Francine, well it makes a lot of sense. An author I am quite fond of, Laurell K Hamilton, used the masks in a couple of her books. They are vampire/supernatural type books, and the rulers so to speak of the vampire counsel wear certain masks to denote their position. They also leave masks of varying colors for those who are being summoned. The colors denote if they are just being watched, if they are required to come in front of the counsel, or if they are on a death list.

I thought it was an intriguing way to do things, and your article reminded me of it.
