How to Get Started Writing on Medium, Again — Medium FAQs

For those who have been here awhile, but might need to start again.

When Medium announced they were changing how the Partner Program functioned and now requiring people to have at least 100 followers in order to qualify, some people were a bit upset. No one likes change and I understand that. I’ve had this account with Medium since 2017 and while it’s been part of the Partner Program since its inception, it hasn’t always made a ton of money.

In fact, I stopped paying for a membership and pretty much stopped writing on this account for well over a year at one point because I didn’t see the point. I’d created a second account under a pseudonym as a trial, to see if writing about a completely different set of topics would make more money and work better for me. And for a while it absolutely did. Unfortunately, it seems not long after I got that idea, so did a lot of other people.

We all know “sex sells” and it’s no different here on Medium, however, when the pandemic hit and the market became saturated, it isn’t so much that it stopped selling as it just sold for a bit less, and less, and…well you get the picture.
