I had no idea you were also in N.C.! I know I’ve had the pleasure of reading some of your writing before, but as I took an unintended break from Medium, I know I’ve missed a lot.

I’m on the other side of the state from you, at the beach. We’ve beauty of our own, though much different. I enjoy your area as well, but haven’t had a chance to visit in many years.

There is quite a large Gullah community here, so we get the Gullah/Geechee mannerisms and speech quite a bit here. I never knew it was any different from “normal”, until someone not from here pointed it out.
