I have always loved to read, but rarely enjoyed what I was made to read in school. This book is one of the few exceptions. We were not told in school that the author was a woman, nor that she was so young when she wrote this. I think it would have made it even more intriguing, especially to the girls.
It is still one of my top 5 favorite books. I have read it numerous times, and probably irritated the hell out of both of my boys when it was time for them to read it in school, because I couldn’t wait for them to finish and tell me how much they obviously loved it. ❤
