I will never stop loving the ice cream story. This is the second time I’ve read it, and it put a big ass smile on my face once again. And she fucking hugged you!!! I know it won’t happen, but the petty ass in me wishes somehow, that lady could run across your story, realize it was her, and shudder all these years later in her racist ass heart when she realizes she hugged a ‘darkie’ in disguise.

I know it scared your Daddy that your Mama passed as well as she did, and I know it was dangerous as all hell. But I’m really probably happier than I should be that she (and you) were able to get away with the things you did. I can’t stand racism. It just boils my blood. And I live in the South, so I’ve seen more of it than I care to admit. So to know there was at least two amazing women thumbing their noses at the bullshit makes my warrior heart happy.
