Me, Myself, and I

Poem #2 NaNoWriMo Chapbook Challenge

My skirt, too short
My hair, too big
No matter my mind
Judge me, for my gender

My manner of speaking
Too loud, too soft
Opinions, unwanted
Judge me, for my thoughts

Walk tall, stoop low
Show skin, cover all
Bare face, made up
Judge me, for my decisions

Sex before marriage
Sex on my terms
Unwanted pregnancy, terminated
Judge me, for my right to choose

I am a woman in today’s society
Free to speak, free to choose
Free to be myself, free to shine
Judge me not, for I don’t judge you

Juliette van der Molen created the #ChapbookChallenge for those who choose not to take part in the traditional NaNoWriMo. For more information, ChapbookChallenge.
