They may not be trying to dissuade, however, they are condemning people who are not “true” practitioners, in their opinions. This is where ridiculousness comes in. Cultural appropriation would be someone walking around dressed as someone of another culture, not practicing a thousands of years old form of wellness. In this same vein, is it wrong for Americans to seek Chinese medicine? I would much rather be culturally well rounded than remain ignorant. I do not personally find this to be appropriating the culture of other people.
