This is a very interesting piece alto and I definitely agree with most of what you said. Obviously, there are times when things are different. My husband is straight and his brother (from another mother ) is gay. They consider themselves brothers, not just friends and behave like siblings. Their relationship is great, they talk about most everything and spend a lot of time together. In their relationship, it’s actually my brother in law that holds back in talking about things, mostly his relationships. I don’t know if he thinks it would be an issue, though it definitely isn’t for anyone other than him. He was closeted for so long, I think he’s still nervous about being out.
