This is SO important. I find myself struggling with this with my step-daughter’s mother, and there is nothing I can do about it. She attempts to live vicariously through her daughter; forces her into after-school programs (cheer, dance, etc) that the child has ZERO interest in, because SHE wanted to do them and wasn’t able. It is very frustrating. Yet, she won’t take the time to play with her, read with her, take her to the park.
