You Don’t Have to Get Up at 4am to be Amazing

They’re everywhere…not zombies, but they may be. I’m referring to the people who keep telling us to get up early as fuck, or we are losers.

Well, it’s 4am where I am currently, and I am only awake because I haven’t gone to sleep yet. Does this count? Probably not, because as soon as I feel tired enough, whether it’s in 30 minutes or 3 hours, I’m going to bed.

And I’m not setting an alarm.

It is patently unhealthy to expect that everyone in the world must get up or even go to bed at a certain time. Getting no sleep does not make you more productive. Some people are night owls, and that’s okay. Being productive generally has no bearing on the time you go to bed or the time you get up. Productivity is a product of a healthy lifestyle.

Getting 3–4 hours of sleep a night isn’t healthy, long-term..

I’m not telling you to sleep the day away, not by any means. What I’m saying is “You do You”. Don’t let some self-proclaimed guru tell you that you’re a loser because you don’t do things their way. And yes, I’ve seen the word “loser” tossed around lately in regard to this. It’s ridiculous honestly. Name calling doesn’t help either.

The best advice I can give to anyone looking to improve themselves is this:

Do what is best for YOU. If that means going to bed at 9pm and waking up at 3am, go for it. But that also means if going to bed at 2am and waking up at 10am works for you, go for that.

Eat the kale if you want, but don’t if you don’t.

Do things you enjoy.

Seek knowledge, always.

You are the best judge of your own abilities. Don’t ever forget that.
