You’re correct, it is a two way street.
But I’ve also learned over the years that me, as a woman, trying to tell most men how to do something (listen more, etc.) works about as well as talking to a brick wall.
Rather than come off as a nagging broad, I’ll leave that to their wives, girlfriends, sisters, mothers, etc.
For my part, I talk to my husband about what I need, in and out of bed. I also make a point to teach my male children how important it is to listen. I’ve told them all since they could understand me, “We have two ears and one mouth for a reason”
I don’t believe that educating women to stand up for themselves and speak their truth is putting an onus on them by any means. I think it just helps sometimes to hear from someone else that it’s okay to ask for what you want. That’s what I’m trying to accomplish here, anyway.
